Grace Babbes

Grace Babbes

Profesor

Growing up in a family of actors, Grace has been performing all her life - theatre, voice over, music. With a lifelong love of jazz/big band music and a love of dance, she took her first Lindy Hop class in 2012 and quickly fell in love! She began with social dancing and was often seen out 4-5 nights a week at venues throughout LA and Orange County. She was able to progress and develop quickly thanks to many hours spent on the social dance floor and in practice rooms with her partner Keegan Mullin and with various performance/competitive teams.

Grace regularly social dances and teaches all across Southern California, and competes in many regional and national competitions, both in partnerships and with the award-winning team Special Delivery Stomp. In addition, Grace is a member of the entertainment company The Hollywood Hotshots, performing in live events, music videos, commercials, and more. She has found a passion for the preservation of American Vernacular Jazz Dance, and has choreographed and performed for film, music videos, and live events.

Grace brings a sense of playful fun to her teaching, keeping a strong emphasis on connection technique. Her favorite part of Lindy hop is that the dance can be a conversation with your partner, and she believes the best way to learn to “converse” is through good connection, solid basics, and a lot of fun! Whether you are looking to learn your first dance for your wedding, or have never danced before, or are ready to take your swing dancing to the next level, Grace looks forward to the opportunity to get you feeling confident, looking good, and having fun on the dance floor!

Jacob Wigger

Profesor

Jacob started swing dancing in 2003 and has been hooked ever since.

He became serious about Balboa in 2005 and began traveling to various events and competitions not much later. His first love is social dancing but he also competes as a chance to push himself. As a teacher he enjoys using a mix of humorous (in his opinion) analogies and serious instruction to create a fun and exciting learning environment.

Jacob has taught at numerous national and international events. Some of his awards include 1st place at All Balboa Weekend in 2014, 1st place in the International Balboa Championships in 2011 (Balboa Rendezvous), 1st place in the Balboa division of the National Jitterbug Championships in 2014 and 1st place at the Eastern Balboa Championships in 2013.

Olga Marina

Olga Marina

Profesor

Olga was born into a family of teachers and since early years has been an energetic live wire – studying music, doing athletics, martial arts and gymnastics. In 2007 she was introduced to Lindy Hop and this is where the real passion story begins. She got dance hooked and started to explore more of the dance world by getting into Blues and later Balboa. She has been actively travelling the globe in pursuit of more opportunities to dance, learn and compete. Later she began to share her love for swing music and dance by teaching. Now Olga is the international balboa instructor, teaching solo and couple Balboa all over the world.

At her classes she pays a lot of attention to getting the students interested and involved by giving challenging and fun tasks, working both on technique and musicality and infecting them even more with the love of dancing. For the time being she is passionately developing a new direction of swing dance practices – iSoloBalboa – offline and online solo classes for balboa leaders and followers which aim at polishing up technique and developing creativity and musicality.

Andreas Olsson

Profesor

Andreas Olsson lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up on the wrestling mat, fighting other little boys in leotards. He won most of the time since he’s always given 100% in everything that he does. He also played the violin in his childhood. You might not think classical music and wrestling has much in common with Swing dancing, but it has definitely contributed to him becoming the unpredictable, creative, musical and interesting dancer he is today.

Andreas was introduced to Lindy Hop in 2001 and a few years later to Balboa and other dances. In his early career, Andreas focused on performance and competition. He was part of the Swedish National Lindy Hop team and the Stockholm based performance troop Shout n Feel it. His international teaching career started in the mid 2000´s. Since then, Andreas teaches Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Balboa, Saint Louis Shag, Collegiate Shag and other swing dances all around the world. He often competes and was awarded first place at events as Balboa division at National Jitterbug Championships (Camp Hollywood), Lindy and Balboa division at International Lindy Hop Championships, American Classic Balboa Championships (All Balboa Weekend), Rendezvous Championships (New York Balweek) and Rocky Mountain Balboa Blowout. Andreas is also the reigning champion of the American Classic Balboa Championships at All Balboa Weekend together with Olga Marina.

Fancy Dougherty

Fancy Dougherty

Profesor

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Fancy (a birth name) fell in love with Lindy and Shag in 2008, with Balboa trailing not far behind. She’s been hooked ever since, constantly endeavoring to improve her technique on a never-ending quest for connection, improvisational freedom in social dancing and the true jitterbug spirit. She has performed, competed in and taught Lindy, Balboa and Shag all over the world, was inducted into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame in 2014 and is a five-time winner of the National Jitterbug Championships in the shag division. She loves to dance with new people and beginners, so be sure to ask her to dance!

Jeremy Otth

Profesor

Jeremy Otth amassed a great amount of knowledge on the historic essence of vintage swing dances and personal stories and interactions with some of the original jitterbuggs and swing dancers. His interest has focused on the Lindy Hop, Balboa, Jazz and Collegiate Shag. Along with his seemingly inexhaustible amount of energy, Jeremy’s natural talent and dedication led him to accumulate championship titles at many acclaimed dance competitions such as the International Lindy Hop Championships, National Jitterbug Championships, American Classic Balboa Championships, California Balboa Classic and the US Open Swing Dance Championships. Jeremy is now able to share that breadth of knowledge and passion for these classic partner dances by entertaining and educating feet from Southern California to around the world.

Susana Bernal Sanchez

Susana Bernal Sanchez

Profesor
