Every great ambition starts with a story.

As a designer and developer of online services, dance has become an essential part of my life. This passion led me to participate in many dance festivals, where I discovered a true family, friends, and the desire to share this culture by becoming an organizer myself. This is how I realized the lack of truly adapted solutions for ticketing and event organization.

In 2019, I set out to create a set of tools that met my needs and those of my organizer friends, with the ambition of designing a quality solution that is both adaptable to a large community and designed to last over time.

Dance Nearby is much more than just a platform. It is a space designed for all dance enthusiasts: dancers, organizers, teachers, musicians, DJs, or photographers, everyone finds their place here.

We aspire to celebrate the richness and diversity of dances and dancers, while offering a respectful and inclusive space that promotes sharing, discovery, and the development of all actors in the dance scene.

History

Initial Idea

September 2019

As a dancer for several years, I participated in many festivals where, often, the registration process took more than a month between registration and confirmation following payment.

This is how the concept of Dance Nearby was born: a multi-service platform designed to simplify the work of organizers, notably by automating the registration process. It also offers dancers a simple way to discover events for all dances, presented as a true catalog. Finally, Dance Nearby highlights all the actors of the dance scene: organizers, teachers, musicians, DJs, and photographers, thanks to a system designed to showcase their contributions and experiences.

Research and Development Phase

November 2019 to November 2022

With 12 years of experience as a developer specializing in e-commerce, I embarked on a long research and development phase.

During this period, I designed a first version of the ticketing system, the search engine, and a catalog-shaped data structure. I also explored different prototypes covering a wide range of services for organizers.

This stage was followed by a consolidation phase, which gave birth to the first version of the platform. It integrates a final selection of features from the various prototypes previously developed.

Launch of Dance Nearby

November 2022

The first version of the project went online.

I then took advantage of the first feedback to improve the design, user experience, and pricing offers.

Proof of Concept

May 2023 to August 2024

The arrival of the first client marked an important milestone, accompanied by a series of improvements to meet their specific needs. These additions included membership management, a discount system for end customers, an automatic message broadcasting feature, and performance enhancements to handle high traffic during the opening of event registrations exceeding 400 unique registrations.

With the integration of new clients, new features emerged, including installment payments, a newsletter system, and more customization options.

Commercialization Phase

September 2024 to today

With several thousand users and unique registrations for dance activities, the project proves its effectiveness in meeting the needs of organizers.

The site then began a large-scale commercialization phase, accompanied by a complete interface redesign to strengthen the identity and recognition of the Dance Nearby brand.
