Line-up

Enseignants, Groupes, Dj, etc.., ils sont au programme de notre événement.

Skye Humphries

Skye Humphries

Enseignant

Skye Humphries was first persuaded to dance Lindy Hop by his mother in 1996, but quickly discovered his own love of social dancing, swing music and the Lindy Hop community. This led him to a wider interest in dance and he took classes in ballet, modern, and Jazz. Since 1999 he has taught wherever Lindy Hop is done – from national weekends to international dance camps. He is a founding member of some the most influential modern Lindy Hop troupes- including Minnie’s Moochers, Mad Dog, and the Silver Shadows.

Skye has also won titles at all of the major Lindy Hop competitions – including ULHS, ILHC, ALHC and the World Lindy Hop Championships. This involvement with Lindy Hop sparked his wider interest in America’s history and cultural heritage- leading him to pursue American Studies at The George Washington University where he received his master’s degree in 2007.

Frida Segerdahl

Enseignant

Frida has been dancing since her early childhood. Her very first dance interest was Swedish folk dances and Swedish Bugg and later moved on to Boogie Woogie. She also attended a three year dance dance high school focusing on modern and contemporary jazz dance and ballet. Training and competing brought her to Herräng Dance Camp where she was exposed to Lindy hop on the social dance floor for the first time and she fell head over heels in love with the music and the dance, finding a freedom of expression she had never felt before. From that point she was hooked and has never looked back. She joined the performance group The Rhythm Hot Shots, now known as The Hot Shots, a celebration of Harlem rhythms, for 15 years.

There she got the possibility to work hard, learning and performing a broad spectrum of the African American dances she loves such as Lindy Hop, solo jazz, charleston and tap. She feels incredibly happy and humble that she has had the opportunity to travel the world performing, teaching, competing and sharing her passion for this artform for the last 20 years.

Frida Segerdahl
Alexandre McCormack

Alexandre McCormack

Enseignant

Alex is Benelux vice champion in breakdancing and has been teaching urban dances for over 14 years. Later, McCormack discovered old clips such as Hellzapoppin and Spirit Moves, and said to himself “that’s how I want to dance this dance”.

He decided to ongo the never ending journey of studying “oldschool” style of Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz. For him, originality and authenticity comes from individual expression while remaining true to the dance and its founders. He will jam for hours into the early morning to uptempo Bebop Swing, shaky Mambo and slow Blues.

Back in Brussels, he trains with his group, the Old Soulz.

Jill De Muelenaere

Enseignant

Jill started dancing when she was a child. She is trained in classical ballet, modern jazz and jazz dance, contemporary dance and yoga. She has been teaching these different disciplines for the past years, now sharing her time between her passion for dancing, her work as a contemporary dance producer, a massage therapist and a yoga instructor. She discovered lindy hop while at University and since then has been performing, teaching and attending numerous workshops around the world.

Specifically inspired by the authentic vernacular dancing showed in old movies and the african roots of the dance, Jill is ceaselessly in search for a sense of freedom within the dance. In class her goal is to create a joyful yet challenging and encouraging experience for everyone allowing each dancer to develop their own individuality in their dancing.

Jill De Muelenaere
Tony Jackson

Tony Jackson

Enseignant

When Tony discovered swing dancing, he found a way to indulge his love for rhythm and the music and to be creative in a way which he never thought possible – he now focuses all of his energy on his dancing and teaching. He is based in London, England and teaches regularly with Sharon Davis for her school, JazzMAD, but also for a number of the other different schools in the city, as well as internationally with his partner Irene Ragusini. He and Irene are both successful competitors, having competed and placed in some well respected competitions. They have a very special love for social dancing. They are highly thought of, and are quickly being recognised amongst a new generation of teachers, having most recently been invited to teach at the most prestigious and historical event, Herrang Dance Camp, in 2015.

As a teacher, Tony hopes to inspire others by sharing ideas for rhythmic clarity and creativity, which allow dancers to connect to their partner, to the music and to really express themselves.
