Andrea Liarco Segni

Andrea Liarco Segni

Teacher

Andrea Liarco

Andrea Liarco, literally grew up in music and dance, was born in Rome in 1989, and he started studying Violin and Piano when he was 4 years old.

The passion for dancing was born a little later, starting to break bows while dancing at the same time as playing.

Always torn between understanding how the world works and living it without overthinking, he remains very open to various musical genres, listening to Classical, passing through Jazz to electronic music.

Although already interested in Hip Hop, the first couple dance style he methodically learned was Salsa at the age of 20. From there, over the years, he approached many dance styles as Lindy Hop, West Coast, Balboa, Fusion, Zouk, Forró... only to fall in love definitively with Blues in 2016

He is graduated in violin at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, and he also follows the piano program up to the intermediate exam of the eighth year.

He forms himself through high school, sports, the Conservatory, dance schools, but above all, thanks to concerts, theatrical tours, and festivals, music and dance allow him to travel extensively and perform with exceptional artists, broadening his horizons to continue improving.

He decided to specialize in jazz and electronic music, while integrating his knowledge with guitar and harmonica on the one hand, DJ and music production on the other.

In 2019, he joined the Swinghaus team in Rome, giving classes of Blues and Lindy Hop together with his partner Lucía Mendoza, helping to grow the blues scene also in the organization of events, as a violinist / harmonica player, and as a sound technician / lights.

A move to Valencia in 2020 provided an opportunity for Andrea to immerse himself further in Blues as a dancer and instructor while also allowing him to embark on his musical projects, like Dandrea, Old Barrel, Revolution Band, and his personal one-man-band project.

Specifically for Blues, he participated in two editions of the Bluesology Teacher Training and The Jump - an immersive week of dance training. He also served as artistic director and music manager for a musical events agency in Rome, and recently, he integrated his training with a master's in Artistic E-management

As of 2023, Andrea Liarco continues to evolve and excel in both the music and dance realms, participating in numerous festivals, honing his skills, and embracing the rich tapestry of blues, fusion, and electronic music.

With a newfound passion for woodworking, and a dedication to educating others in various forms of music, Andrea's artistic journey remains as dynamic and diverse as the genres he adores.

Lucía Mendoza

Teacher

Lucía was born in Madrid in 1988. She felt attracted to the performing arts from an early age, in fact she started to study theater and ballet from the age of 6. At 17 she was addmited in the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (RESAD) in Madrid, where she graduated in Performing Arts. It was in those years where, apart from her training as an actress, she studied various dance disciplines (classical, contemporary, modern jazz, latin dances, historical dances, etc.) and different techniques of movement and bodily expression.

Since Lucía grew up listening to Jazz, Blues, Soul, etc. at home, it is not strange that she started going to vintage clubs to listen to music from the 30's to 60's, and it was like that, in 2013, how she discovered that the music that she loved could also be danced, which changed her life forever. Lindy Hop and Balboa were the first disciplines with which she made contact, but it was while dancing the Blues where she definitely felt she had found her place. Since then she has not stopped attending international workshops and festivals.

In 2017 she decided to undertake her career as a dancer and teacher and shortly after she moved to Rome, where she formed part of the Swinghaus school as a teacher of Blues, Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Balboa; but especially by dedicating herself to developing the local Blues scene both as a teacher and organizing events.

In Rome she also took a professional DJ course, also to contribute as a DJ to create atmospheres on the dance floors.

In Italy she participated in a television broadcast dancing Blues, participated as a teacher at festivals and began to collaborate in the organization of the first international Blues festival in Rome, which was suspended due to the pandemic.

In 2018 she participated in the Bluesology teachers training, in Valencia, to reinforce her own teaching techniques and learn how to correctly transmit the principles and values of the Blues culture, which she considers very important.

In August 2020 she moved permanently to Valencia, where nowadays she especially teaches Blues and Solo Blues internationally and locally in various schools in the city, and actively participates in the local scene, also collaborating in organizing parties. She also teaches Lindy Hop and Boogie Boogie, as a member of Black Bottom School team.

Lucía, apart from dancing, loves teaching and organizing events because she loves being able to convey the passion she feels for dance and music and create communities..

Out of the dancing world, Lucía is designer and a professional actress, that's why she also loves to MC at festivals.

In her classes she tries to use the tools and experience he has from theater and bodily expression to ensure that through movement and music, people find their voice and can connect with their emotions and with others.

Nothing makes her happier than see a class or a dance floor full of people enjoying the moment
