Martín Burguez & His Rhythm Combo presents a new show featuring classics of rhythm-and-blues and original songs in the style of African-American music from the 1940s and 1950s. As a guitarist and singer, Burguez leads a sextet with some of the most outstanding young musicians in the Barcelona blues and R&B scene. In terms of influences, he draws inspiration from both R&B — Big Joe Turner, Nappy Brown, Chuck Willis, Tiny Bradshaw, and others — and jump-blues — BB King, T-Bone Walker, Pee Wee Crayton, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, etc. With this and his own songwriting and arrangements, Martín Burguez & His Rhythm Combo delivers an exhilarating, adrenaline-filled show that evokes the aesthetic of the 1940s with a lively and highly personal touch.
